Fall Prevention

According to the Centers for Disease Control one in three adults age 65 and older falls each year. In this same population falls are the leading cause of injury death as well as the most common cause of nonfatal injuries and hospital admissions for trauma.  Physical therapy has been shown to reduce the risk of falls in the older adult. If you or a loved one have had a fall or have noticed that your balance has declined, you should mention this to your physician. Your physical therapist can develop an individualized fall prevention program for you.
